What is CXWORX?

by our instructors – Katy Thomas and Emma Lievesley

Since we launched our Les Mills offering in March, we have been asked one question more than any other………… what is that programme with the very strange name – CXWORX??!! We thought we would try to explain.
CXWORX is a programme that focuses on working the torso, and the sling muscles that connect your upper body to your lower body. It is ideal for tightening your tummy and your glutes(*), as well as improving functional strength and assisting in injury prevention.
Whatever your fitness level, you can do this programme, as the moves are simple and low impact with lots of options which lets you choose the level of intensity that you work at. The workouts use a combination of light weights and resistance bands and many of the individual exercises are floor based.
To see best results from CXWORX, in terms of increased cardio and functional fitness, Les Mills recommend you aim to do 2-3 sessions per week, but equally one session per week will obviously help you – it will just take a bit longer to see the results!
We are currently the only club in Bedford offering this programme and are extremely proud that we can deliver it to our members at a high standard. The feedback we have received since the programme started has been very positive with more and more new faces turning up each week. It is also very rewarding for us, as instructors, to see our participants’ strength and technique improve over time, adding to the functional benefits this workout provides.
So next time you see someone walking around with a strong core and washboard abs, the chances are they have been doing CXWORX! We hope to see you there too!

(*) The gluteal muscles or glutes are a group of three muscles which make up the buttocks: the gluteus maximus, gluteus medius and gluteus minimus.
