Jake joined the Towers Health and Racquets Club team in October 2016 as the Food and Beverage Manager. A hospitality professional of 12 years, Jake has risen through the ranks from entry level, spending time as a Kitchen Manager, progressing to a Deputy Manager, and most recently running his own portfolio of public houses and bars. Actively supporting better practices within the industry, Jake also served as the Vice-Chairman for the Late-Night Economy, Licensees Forum known as ‘Bedsafe’.
Both professional and personable, Jake has operated his own portfolio with community at heart. Working with local support groups he has championed local issues and been a benefactor to the ‘Bedford Street Angels’, a Christian organisation focused on providing care and prayer to revellers in need of assistance. Jake was rewarded with his dedication in 2014, winning the ‘People’s Choice Award’, ‘Silver Award’ and an accreditation at the Bedford Best Bar None Awards following his successful turnaround of The Barley Mow public house. His achievement gained him national recognition appearing in numerous national trade magazines reaffirming the need for local community.
Jake spent his school years at Bedford Modern School, being part of the schools Rugby, Cricket and Athletics teams as well as enjoying success as the Head of House and Combined Cadet Force. With family all over the world, Jake has chosen to remain in the town he loves starting on the journey of making a family with his partner. Jake enjoys his music and spends his spare time taking part in local ‘jam’ nights, also finding time for walks with his partner. The rest of his spare time is spent in his kitchen and home bar, experimenting with flavours and trying new techniques and following F&B bloggers for the latest trends. He is particularly looking forward to rekindling his enjoyment of racquet sports and will make full use of the facilities at Club Towers.
