Inspiring Tennis from our Club Championship Finalists

11 October 2018

A fantastic finals day of tennis at the Club saw challengers old and new battle it out for the title of Club Tennis Champion. Many thanks to all of you who took part or came and supported on Sunday 30th September. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.

As  many of you will know our Tennis Open Championships took place on the 30th September, a fantastic day here at the club and we would like to thank all of you who were a part of it.  We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.

The standard of tennis is improving all the time, and this was reflected in the games we saw on the day. It’s always great to see some new challengers taking on the current champions.

We would like to start by sending our congratulations to Claire Raddan for successfully defending her three titles including winning a thrilling three-setter in the Ladies Doubles, coming back from match point down with partner Sam Head.

Secondly, well done to James Keothavong (pictured below with runner up Gary Morris) for regaining his men’s singles title with an emphatic win.

Thirdly, congratulations to Tony Blott and Ivan Schimanski for retaining their men’s doubles titles against some fierce competition from two younger members of the Club.  Their experience shone through to secure the win but it’s fantastic to see lots of potential coming through and this bodes well for future exciting matches.

We would like to offer our heartfelt commiserations to Emma Tatum-Hume in reaching three finals and not quite getting the win, despite holding a match point in one final.  Next year Emma!
