21 December 2016

Towers Health & Racquets Club has invested heavily in its three studios and group exercise will be central to the Club’s plans. The Club is delighted therefore, to be able to announce an agreement has been signed with the popular LES MILLS brand to deliver five of its class programmes.
LES MILLS classes are famed for delivering great music and cutting-edge science to help people fall in love with fitness. They inspire millions of people to get moving every week and LES MILLS workouts are licensed by 17,500 partners in 100 countries around the world.

december-2016-social-tile-logo-cxworx-1Club Towers has initially signed an agreement to deliver Body Pump, Body Attack, Body Combat, Grit Series and CXWORX.
Recently appointed Studio Coordinator Katy Thomas commented “We are thrilled to be able to announce the LES MILLS classes we will run and have carefully selected a mix of programmes that we think will offer the most complete set of workouts for our member demographic. A number of these programmes are incredibly popular already in the Bedford area but I am particularly excited to be the first club to launch CXWORX in the town. CXWORX is a superb 30-minute core workout that offers options for all participants. It is challenging but achievable for every level of fitness. I will be teaching this class myself in the club and am confident it will really add something special to our timetable.”

Fitness Manager Jamie Matsell continued “We expect our partnership with LES MILLS to be a long term one and the background support they offer in terms of marketing and research is another important part of the overall package for us. The success of these classes at club level is then down to the instructors and we will be starting our recruiting process for these in the New Year. We aim to have the very best certified instructors that will really bring the classes to life and make participants desperate for more!”

With dedicated Mind and Body, Group Cycle and High Impact studios, Club Towers will run a full timetable of classes that will include Yoga, Pilates, Legs, Bums and Tums (LBT), Group Cycling and many, many more. General Manager Steve Davies added: “We are really excited by our studio offering and are dedicated to making it the best in the area. The studio design and layouts will be first class and naturally we wanted a good LES MILLS offering to supplement this. The next phase is to finalise the timings of our classes and we will release our opening timetable in February once instructor recruitment has taken place. We are determined to keep our timetable fresh, exciting and up to date with industry trends and crucially, as our membership grows, we will have the capacity to increase the number of classes so our members can rest assured their group exercise needs will be well looked after.”

THE LES MILLS STORY

Every Olympic athlete aims high and wants to be the best in their field and the founder of LES MILLS is a four-time Olympian who always sets big goals. Les Mills Snr started his first gym in Auckland, New Zealand in 1968. Now, nearly four decades on, LES MILLS™ workouts are loved by millions and available in clubs and gyms all across the planet.

Les Mills Snr was not the only family member to represent his country in sport. His wife Colleen, daughter Donna and his son Phillip (now CEO) all wore the silver fern as national athletes of New Zealand. Phillip joined the business full-time in 1980 and immediately began to create innovative ways to motivate people. Not afraid to take risks, Phillip and his mates from the entertainment business were the first to create group workouts driven by the beat of modern music. Those early aerobic programmes drew queues down the street and Phillip could sense the real power of group fitness.

In 1990 Les Mills changed the game by adding barbells to the studio with the original PUMP class. Massively popular in Australia and New Zealand, they knew it was a winning formula. In 1997, it was renamed BODYPUMP™ and taken around the world.

Les Mills International was born.
