Junior Swimming Lessons at Club Towers

We operate our own in-house swim school, for our members, providing expert tuition for all age ranges. and abilities. Our qualified instructors are there to help learners progress as quickly as their ability allows in a safe and fun environment.

Junior swimming lessons are graded by ability to ensure the best learning environment and regular feedback is provided to parents on the progress of their children, with certificates and badges awarded as milestones are achieved. We don’t pack our lessons with children (max 6 per class), so your child will receive the individual coaching and attention that they need to progress quickly.

Spring term 2024 will commence Monday 8th January running until Sunday 24th March Half term is 19-25th February.

Guide to Classes

Parent & Baby & Toddler

These sessions are fun, game based and focus on getting the little one used to and happy in the water.  Parent/Guardian accompanies your child in the pool.

The toddler session leads them up to the next stage which is Duckling.

Duckling

This is for complete beginners who haven’t swum before and for beginners working towards duckling awards on our current swim programme between the ages of approximately 3.5 and 5 years.

This fun class will develop water confidence and encourage independence using aids to travel without adult support on the front and back. Lesson using a wide range of toys to help engage the child and encourage learning through fun.  Aquatic breathing will also be introduced as well as safe entry and exits into the pool.

This lesson will have a qualified ASA (Swim England) Level 2 swim teacher in the water with the pupils.

Beginners – Stages 1 & 2

This is for beginner swimmers aged five and up with some previous swimming experience.  Juniors will develop water skills such as push & glides, tucks, floating with and without aids. Independent movement around the pool using arms & legs along with developing a recognised leg action are covered throughout the sessions.  Children also begin to learn how to develop breathing in a controlled manner with mouth and nose under the water.

This lesson will have a qualified ASA (Swim England) Level 2 swim teacher in the water with the pupils.

Improvers – Stages 3 & 4

Our improver class is for junior members age 6 and over with previous formal swimming experience and who are highly confident in the water.  They will be working towards the national swim stages 3 & 4 assessments independently without flotation equipment/support.  Swimmers will be fully submerging to pick up objects from the pool floor & will continue to work on maintaining streamlined positions. Particular attention will be paid to length kicks and comfortably swimming the length of the pool.

Following Swim England Expected Standards (performing a recognised stroke) Swim teachers will mostly be teaching from poolside.

Advanced

Our advanced swimmers will have a good understanding of all four disciplines (Diving, Swimming, Synchronised Swimming and Water Polo) & work towards executing the strokes, to Swim England expected standards. Water skills will be developed to perform treading water, a sequence of sculling actions, handstands & somersaults. Water safety activities are also included.

This class will be taught in a lane, with a teacher on the poolside.
